Buma Awards Music in Media Categories

The Buma Awards for Music in Media Categories are back for another year at Buma Music in Motion. In order to honour and recognise the most successful music composers across a range of media projects, Buma Awards will be presented during a special evening held on May 19 in The Loft, Amsterdam. To highlight the most successful music composers for media, Buma Awards are presented in nine categories.
The deadline for entries was February 17.

 

Buma Award Best Original Composition in Film

Buma Award Best Original Composition in Film is awarded to the Dutch composer of an original score for a feature film, that has had its premiere or first public screening in 2019, followed by a week in at least three cinemas or film theatres.

 

Buma Award Best Original Composition in Television Series

Buma Award Best Original Composition in Television Series is awarded to a Dutch composer who created an original composition for a television series as part of its incidental score. This category does not include television title sequences or programme trailers but can include web or streaming series. The entry must have been broadcast in 2019 for the first time by a national or regional broadcaster or streaming service in the Netherlands or abroad. A single scene or a selection of excerpts from an episode or series (up to a maximum duration of 5 minutes) can be entered for consideration.

 

Buma Award x Adformatie Best Music in Advertising

The Buma Award x Adformatie Best Music in Advertising consists of two subsidiary awards: Buma Award Best Original Composition in Advertising and Best Sync in Advertising.

a) The Buma Award Best Original Composition in Advertising is awarded to the Dutch composer of a composition created specifically for an advertising campaign (online, television, cinema). This category does not include film, tv or game trailers or promos.

b) The Buma Award Best Sync in Advertising is awarded to the best use of existing Dutch music in an advertising campaign.

 

Buma Award Best Original Composition in Documentary, Short Film, Telefilm and Animation

Best Original Composition Documentary, Short Film, Telefilm and Animation is awarded to the Dutch composer of a documentary, short film, telefilm and animation that has had its premiere or first public screening in 2019, followed by a week in at least three cinemas or film theatres, a festival screening at the NFF, the IDFA, Holland Animation Festival, the IFFR or has either been broadcast in the same year for the first time by a national or regional broadcaster in the Netherlands or abroad.

 

Buma Award Best Sync (in Television, Film, Online)

Buma Award Best Sync (in Television, Trailers, Film, Online) is awarded to the best use of existing Dutch music in (international) television, in online domains, in a selected scene from a feature film or television program; in a game, TV or movie trailer.

 

Buma Award Best Original Composition in Trailers

Buma Award Best Original Composition in Trailers recognizes, inspires and celebrates composers from all over the country for their best original composition in trailers (for film, TV, gaming). First broadcast between January 1, 2018 and December 31, 2019.

 

Buma Award Best Podcast, Radio and Television Imaging

Buma Award Best Podcast, Radio and Television Imaging is awarded to the best Dutch composer of original compositions created specifically for podcast, radio and television branding purposes, like channel identities, program branding or station imaging packages. Including idents, leaders, jingles, television- and radio title sequences, bumpers, theme music, music beds, sweepers, intros.

 

Buma Music in Motion New Talent Award

For the New Talent Award, which was launched six years ago, students and young professionals can submit music for any and every kind of media, that has had its premiere or first screening in 2019. The annual talent award recognizes, inspires and celebrates emerging composers from all over the country, and offers upcoming talent an all-important platform to showcase their work to professionals from the music and media industries.
